Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Vektra Legacy ("we", "the game") collects, why, and your rights over it. Vektra Legacy is an independent, hobbyist online game. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be transparent about what we keep.
1. Who we are
Vektra Legacy is operated by an individual developer. For any privacy question or request, contact admin@vektralegacy.com.
2. What we collect
- Account information — your chosen callsign, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
- Gameplay data — your in-game progress, holdings, statistics, alliances, and actions, which are necessary to run the game.
- Messages — in-game mail you send or receive, retained as described in Section 5.
- Server logs — like nearly all websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical access logs that may include your IP address, browser type, and access times. These are used for security and to keep the service running.
3. How we use it
- To create and operate your account and run the game.
- To verify your email address (a verification link is sent at signup).
- To moderate the community and enforce the Code of Conduct.
- To communicate with you about the game (e.g. announcements from the Admiral).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Third parties
We use an email service to deliver verification and account emails, and a web hosting provider whose infrastructure generates the server logs described above. We do not share your data with third parties for their own purposes. We do not knowingly use third-party advertising or tracking services.
5. Message retention & deletion
For safety and moderation, in-game messages are retained on our servers. When you delete a message from your inbox, it is removed from your view but may be retained on our servers so that we can investigate reports and enforce the Code of Conduct. Retained messages are accessible only to the operator for moderation purposes.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
Regardless of where you live, we aim to honor the data-protection rights set out in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your account and personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — request your data in a portable format.
- Restriction / objection — ask us to limit how we process your data.
To exercise any of these, email admin@vektralegacy.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Note on erasure: when you request deletion, we will remove your account and personal data. We may retain a limited record where we have a legitimate or legal basis to do so — for example, to enforce a ban issued for serious misconduct, or where retention is required for safety. We will keep any such retention to the minimum necessary.
7. Data security
Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Vektra Legacy is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. Material changes will be announced, and the version and date above will be updated.
